Race Date, Time & Cost
The chip-timed race takes place on Sunday 6th October 2024, with the race starting at 9:30 am.
Entry cost: £23 for unaffiliated runners and £21 for affiliated runners.
​
The Route
The route starts and finishes at Sonning Common Primary School. The 10k route takes you to Memorial Park before heading out onto the quiet beautiful country roads around Wyfold before heading to Kidmore End and back to the the primary school. Please note there is a small section that is on loose gravel but the rest of the route is on pavements/roads.

Road Closure
There will be road closures in place for the first kilometre of the race up to Memorial Park. Runners must remain vigilant at all times and always listen to marshal instructions. When crossing a road please listen to the marshal's instruction on crossing points and keep on the Left at all times unless instructed to do differently.

To help minimise any disruption, we have included the times we expect runners to be on various parts of the route:
Grove Road/Kennylands Road: 09:30-09:35 and then again between 10:00-11:00
Reade's Lane: 09:30-09:40
Memorial Park: 09.30-09:45
Kedge Road: 09:33 - 09:43
Orchard Avenue: 09:33 - 09:45
Woodlands Road/Beech Rise: 09:35 - 09:50
Shiplake Bottom: 09:38 - 10:00
Chiltern Road: 09:40 - 10:00
Wyfold Lane: 09:42 - 10:20
Wyfold Road: 09:50 - 10:35
Wood Lane/Kidmore Lane: 09:55 - 10:50

Entry Fee Proceeds
Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, all the proceeds from the run will go to Sonning Common Primary School.
On the Day Entries
Entries on the day are subject to availability and will cost £30.
​
Race Numbers
No race numbers or chips are being sent out in advance. Your race number and timing chip needs to be collected on the morning of the event from the school.
​
Age Limit for Entry
As per UK Athletics guidelines, for a 10km race of this type, your age on the day of competition must be 15.
​
Timings of the Day
08:00 am: Registration/Race HQ opens/Johnson Matthey car park opens
09:00am: Cafe opens
09:15 am: Warm-up provided by Badgemore Park for those that wish to participate
09:25 am: Pre-Race Briefing
09:30 am: 10km Race Starts
11:00 am: Prize giving (approximate timing)

Prizes
All competitors receive a medal on completion of the race.

Refunds
Entry fees are non-refundable. Once we have received your entry, we will not be able to refund you except in exceptional circumstances.

Spectators
We encourage friends and family to come along and cheer you on. There's plenty of space at the Race HQ plus a cafe whilst waiting.
​
First Aid & Marshalling
In the event you require first aid at any point during the event, please notify a marshal who will contact our first aid team. The marshals along the course are there for your safety and the safety of your fellow competitors and road users. Please make sure you listen to any instructions they give you and pay attention to any race signage.

Headphones
For safety reasons, you are only allowed to wear bone conduction headphones as you must be able to hear the marshals instructions. The run will be on roads shared with traffic and whilst it is usually quiet at this time of day, you need to be aware and be able to hear instructions from the marshals.

Cut off times
We will allow 1hr30mins for you to complete the course. If you are still on the course at this time, the sweeper will advise you that you are no longer deemed to be participating in the event and we will not be able to provide marshals and facilities beyond that point.
​
Toilets
Toilets will be available within the school.
There are no toilets provided on the route.
Water Station
There will be a water station en route, located at approximately the halfway mark at the Wyfold crossroads, and a further station at the finish.
Refreshments
The Kites Kitchen in the school will be open in the school hall for spectators and participants from 08:15am serving hot breakfast rolls, a selection of baked goods along with hot and cold drinks.
Please try to bring cash although we can also accept card payments.
Bag Drop
There will be a bag drop available at the school. Items left will be done so entirely at the owner’s risk and the organisers take no responsibility for loss or damage of any kind.
Dogs
Unfortunately, no dogs are permitted on the school grounds or on the race course.

Buggy/Pushchair
The course is not suitable for buggies or pushchairs
Parking
The race will start and finish at: Sonning Common Primary School, Grove Road, Sonning Common, RG4 9RJ.
Unfortunately, there will be NO race parking at the school and please avoid parking on the race course.
There will be parking available at Johnson Matthey in their car park located at the top of Widmore Lane by the pond (RG4 9NH) from there the school is a 10 minute walk and will be signposted.
There is also parking at Sonning Common Health Centre (RG4 9SW) which is a 3 minute walk from the school.
Please note all cars parked in the car park do so entirely at their own risk and the race organisers or land owners accept no responsibility for any loss or damage to vehicles or valuables parked there.

Volunteers Needed
Please consider volunteering. To put this event on, we require a huge army of volunteers (the hardest part is finding people to help). We need marshals along the route and there are other roles as well. We hope you will find it a fun and rewarding experience! Please get in touch for further information.
